Wiring Regulations 17th Edition
Major updates to the Wiring Regulations usually occur about every five years, in between this time amendments are made and published as updates. The latest Wiring Regulations 17th Edition update came into force on 1st January 2012 and is referred to as The 17th Edition Amendment No 1.
The Wiring Regulations 17th Edition is produced by the IET (The Institution of Engineering and Technology) and can also be referred to as BS 7671. It is the national standard that all domestic and industrial wiring must conform and the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Amendment 1 contains substantial changes over the previous edition to align with European documents.
All qualified electricians and indeed anyone who is involved in the design, maintenance or installation of electrical wiring will be required to follow the Wiring Regulations 17th Edition.
